Extra Credits are awarded to students who have gone above and beyond their regular syllabus and shown extraordinary dedication to their craft. This reflects ACM SIGGRAPH's commitment to incentivizing their effort and reward high-achieving students who showcase their talent and passions in academia.
We are looking for any tertiary-level FINAL YEAR PROJECT in Game Development submissions from between the years 2025 to 2026.*
Selected teams will be invited to present their project at the upcoming SIGGRAPH ASIA 2026 in KLCC, Malaysia for a chance to win cash prizes and recognition!
RULES & REGULATION
Eight (8) teams will be selected to participate in Extra Credit 2026. These teams will be contacted and invited to be a part of the SIGGRAPH ASIA 2026 at Kuala Lumpur City Convention Centre (KLCC) Malaysia on the 1st to 4th of December 2026. This session is required and at least 1 member of the participating team must be present.
ELIGIBILITY
Any tertiary-level FINAL YEAR PROJECT (FYP) or Capstone Project submissions from between the years 2025 to 2026.* Projects will have to be from the fields of Digital Games, Educational Games / Game-based Learning Systems or Serious Games / Simulation-based Games.
Projects must have been developed as part of their official final-year coursework and launched between the dates *31st July 2025 - 31st July 2026.
Projects MUST be attached to a undergraduate or post-graduate programs belonging to a recognized college / academy / university or institution of higher learning through a letter of acknowledgement from the faculty. Refer to sample letter here. The letter must be endorsed by a supervisor, program leader or Head of Department.
IF selected, Teams must commit to sending a team / representative to attend the SIGGRAPH ASIA 2026 in December to present their project on the 1st to 4th of December 2026. Tickets will be provided for the selected teams where they will be given an opportunity to present their project in hopes of winning the award.

SIGGRAPH ASIA will not be covering accommodation or travel expenses.
AREA OF SPECIALIZATION
Projects must fall within the broader domain of Game Development, including but not limited to;
Digital Games (PC, Mobile, Console, Web, etc)
Educational Games / Game-based Learning Systems
Serious Games / Simulation-based Games
SCOPE
Acceptable submission states include:
Completed Games
Prototypes
Vertical Slices
Conceptual Designs with documented pipelines
The Extra Credit Awards 2026 emphasize on the research, processes, methodology and workflow rather than just purely the final product.
📅 IMPORTANT DATES & COPETITION PROCESS
Submission Dates: 20th May - 31st July 2026
Initial Screening: All entries will undergo a preliminary screening to ensure eligibility and adherence to guidelines. 8 selected teams will be notified on the 31st of August 2026.
Selection Announcement: 31st August 2026
Those that pass will be invited to the Final Judging LIVE at the SIGGRAPH Asia 2026 at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, Malaysia.
Showcase Date: 2nd - 4th December 2026
* teams must be able to commit to sending at least 1 representative to attend the presentation and showcase.
Winners will be announced at the end of SIGGRAPH ASIA 2026.

SUBMISSION & PRESENTATION FORMAT
SUBMISSION (20 May - 31 July 2026)
For the first Selection Stage, submit a 3-10 minute long video presentation of your project.
Applications must be made through this link no later than 31st July 2026.
8 Selected teams will be informed on the 31st August 2026.
You may also include the following files in your submission;
Presentation Slides (may be updated)
Game Design Documentation (GDD) or equivalent
Playable Build / Prototype (if applicable)
Video Demonstration (recommended)
Related Academic Thesis (if applicable)

All materials should be submitted in English or translated beforehand.
PRESENTATION
The 8 teams that are selected to proceed to the Presentation & Showcase @ SIGGRAPH ASIA 2026:
will be required to attend and present at the SIGGRAPH ASIA 2026 to a panel of industry judges who will decide the winner.
will have a chance to present their project on stage. Teams are required to bring their own laptops, tablets and devices but a projector and HDMI cables will be provided.
Presentations will be done in 15-minute format with 5-minute Q&A for clarification.
Judging will be conducted by a panel of independently appointed industry professionals.
GENERAL RULES
Organizers reserve the right to use submitted materials for promotional and educational purposes with proper credit and attribution.
Participants are responsible for all of their own expenses incurred (accommodations, transportation and meals).
Organizers reserve the right to amend rules when necessary, reclassify submissions and withdraw categories if there are insufficient entries.
All decisions by Judges are final.
USE OF GENERATIVE AI
There is no restriction on the use of Generative AI in the submissions but any use of Generative AI in the production pipeline must be declared to the organizers prior to judging especially in the areas of asset creation, (visuals, audio, music and creative content), code generation or narrative or design assistance.
